Dear Beloved Open Door UMC Community, Reconciling Congregation
Hello and Hola!
Last Sunday, Joanna shared the impactful experience of attending her 50th high school reunion. Her reflections on the lasting friendships and cherished memories deeply resonated with all of us. Her story connects beautifully with my message about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the great theologian and pastor who bravely stood against Hitler’s injustice. Even as he faced imprisonment and death, Bonhoeffer’s words, “For me, the beginning of life,” powerfully illustrate his reunion with Jesus Christ in God’s eternal kingdom.
We also joyfully welcomed Marge back to church following her surgery and rehabilitation. Her return was a true celebration, with everyone rejoicing, chatting, and enjoying the delicious food—including the dumplings I brought as a prize for all. Our theme of reunion continues with this week’s message, rooted in Mark 9:30- 37, titled “The Path to True Greatness.” Let us reflect together on how we walk this path through God’s grace alone.
Terry and the Praise Band will lift our hearts in worship, singing hymns that ask the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. Sabina and Tim continue to make our church’s presence visible through social media, while Erika and Adriana support our young generation with love and care.
Come and celebrate this time with us as we reflect on how God has led us to walk the path of love, justice, and peace—true greatness in God’s eyes.
