Dear Beloved Open Door UMC Community, Reconciling Congregation
Hello and Hola!
Last Sunday, we hosted our first fall season music concert, featuring musician Tim Silva on guitar and vocals, and Ray Capiral on piano. Their classical music selections were both beautiful and inspiring, while their more casual tunes filled the room with joy, encouraging us to dance along with them.
This wonderful concert was made possible through the heartfelt efforts of Desiree and Tim, who planned every detail with care. Terry and Vincent enhanced the experience by monitoring and improving the sound system, ensuring everything sounded perfect. Sabina worked diligently to capture the event through photos and shared it with a broader audience via social media. Thanks to Tim’s initiative, we were also able to livestream the concert, with 15 people joining online, while 23 attended in person at the sanctuary to enjoy the live music.
In my sermon, “Crumbs from the Table,” I shared how we bring our individual gifts, like crumbs, to the table, but together they create a significant impact on our community. Through these efforts, people can truly witness God’s guidance, love, and joy. Our church, though small like crumbs, is mighty and growing—working for the kin-dom of God, where peace and justice prevail.
This Sunday, we’ll reflect on Psalm 19:1-9 and Mark 8:27-33, which poses the question, “Who is Jesus?” While we may describe him as our comforter, friend, or source of peace, he is, above all, our Messiah—the one who saves our souls and lives, both here on earth and for eternity. Terry and the Praise Band Team will lead us in worship through song as we respond to Jesus’ call with faithful action. Tim will run the PowerPoint and manage the technology, while Sabina continues her creative outreach on social media. Erika and Adriana also support our Young Generation’s Ministry, as our children and youth grow and dream with Jesus Christ.
Are you ready for an exciting day of worship as we come together and receive the Holy Communion?
