Dear Beloved Open Door UMC Community, Reconciling Congregation Hello and Hola!
Last Sunday was a vibrant celebration and a beautiful display of the kin-dom of God following the removal of anti-LGBTQ rules. We saw love conquering discrimination as banners of pride and clergy stole of the rainbow flowed among us. The rainbow cakes and our Cinco de Mayo celebration were not just about food and fun—they were a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and unity. It was a powerful reminder that God’s love transcends all barriers.
Looking ahead to this Sunday, we have a special service planned that you won’t want to miss. Our scriptures will be Psalm 139:13 and Isaiah 66:13, offering messages of creation and comfort. Our guest speaker, Barbara Glendenning, will share a message titled “Ginkgo Biloba — Bearer of Hope,” exploring themes of resilience and growth.
We’re excited about the inspiring worship graphics Tanya prepared and the enriching music from our Music Director, Terry and the Praise Band Team. Thanks to Oscar’s technical expertise, those who join us online via Facebook will have a seamless experience. Adriana and Erika will lead engaging sessions for our youngest members, helping them understand God’s love in a fun and meaningful way.
In addition to all this, we’re gearing up for a special celebration of Mother’s Day. This Sunday, we will honor and celebrate the motherly figures in our lives—those who have loved, nurtured, and guided us along our journey. We thank all who have embraced the role of mother, whether by birth, adoption or by the spirit of care and compassion.
Join us this Sunday for a worship service filled with hope, love, and celebration. Let’s come together to express our gratitude for the mothers in our lives and to enjoy the warmth of our community. We can’t wait to see you there!
