The Dorothy C. Sapp Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Dorothy Sapp, who had a long history with the United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime Methodist and a long-time active member of Good Shepherd UMC. She worked for many years for the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church when their offices were in San Francisco.
The Scholarship Fund was started by Marge Elliott (daughter of Dorothy Sapp) and George Sapp (son of Dorothy Sapp) following Dorothy’s passing in 1996.
The scholarship is available to Open Door UMC members (and their children) who have been active in the church for at least one year. Scholarship funds are for post-high school education, and there are no restrictions on the course of study of the applicants. Offerings on Mother’s Day Sunday can be made to the Scholarship Fund, and awards will be announced in church on Graduation Sunday.
If you are interested in applying, please contact Meredith Elliott (meredithelliott73@gmail.com) for an application.
Completed applications are due by May 1st of each year.
